non ho capito ancora, invece, come si compone e si differenzia il nuovo CAAD8 che sostituisce il CAAD7 tutto alluminio. (chissà se HotBike ci aiuta a capire meglio ... in anteprima ...)

Gilberto Simoni of the Cannondale-sponsored Saeco squad was set to compete on a Six13 prototype at the 2003 Tour de France when team mechanics realized the bike violated the 15 pound minimum-weight rule of the UCI (the Union Cycliste Internationale, bike racing's international governing body). Team mechanics were forced to add weights to the bike to surpass the 15-pound minimum, but that didn't prevent Simoni from going on to win the Tour's brutal 191-km 14th stage aboard the Six13.

The Six13 frame uses carbon fiber (atomic number Six) in its main frame tubes, and aluminum (atomic number 13) in the seat and chainstays. Welded aluminum tube collars join the carbon fiber and aluminum elements into a complete frame. The frame weighs just 2.5 pounds (1,150 grams), and unlike most frames made entirely from carbon fiber, it's offered in 12 frame sizes to ensure a perfect fit for optimum comfort and efficiency.

The Six13 is formed in an innovative co-molding method in which the carbon-fiber tubes and the frame are constructed simultaneously. The tubes, still in a soft, pliable, and uncured state, are positioned inside the aluminum tube collars. Bladders inside the tubes are inflated and heat is applied, and the finished tubes are physically formed within the collars to create a perfectly aligned, super-light frame.

As the tubes are being formed, the carbon fiber also expands slightly outward through small cutouts in the walls of the aluminum collars. The resulting mechanical interlock, paired with an adhesive bond, delivers unparalleled frame integrity. And, the carbon fiber protruding into the cutouts would have to be physically sheared in order to pull a cured tube from one of the collars.

It all adds up to a difference you'll feel from your first pedal stroke on the Six13. It features the best of all worlds: it's efficiently rigid, ultralight and comfortable enough for stage racing. Come in and try one out. And, be prepared to be amazed!

Non mi piace molto questo commento personalissimo, opinabile soggettivo in

anche se riporto un solo commento di "debolezze" senza riportare alcuno dei "punti di forza" riportati

Weaknesses:
This bike rides like a noodle. Get on it and shake the bars back and forth and the whole top tube flexes 6 inches side to side....SCARY!! This bike has a wicked shimmy at speed, especially down hill in excess of 30mph. You feel it in the bars and it feels like the front end is going to break off. That no air in the tires feeling is the result of a wobbly front end. The bottom bracket also flexs like it shouldn't and it's noticable if you ride anything else. Test ride a Trek carbon then jump and this and you'll notice how much stiffer the trek (mah!, c'e' chi dice il contrario) is, and that's saying something. It's just not a stiff bike, period. The guys at all the magazines either don't know what they're talking about or never got the bike out of the parking lot.

come ti ho già specificato il Caad8 è una evoluzione del Caad7 (entrambi sono in listino nel 2005....) Il caad7 è montato sulla R700 mentre il caad8 sarà su R900 e R1000 (la R1000 ha anche la pedaliera integrata SI in carbonio....)

per le forcelle....
il Caad8 monta la Slice Premium
il Six13 monta la Slice Premium +

Entrambe sono full carbon....la Premium + ha anche i forcellini in carbonio.

Telaio Six13 già disponibile nelle 4 colorazioni e taglie come da catalogo. QUindi si può montare con i componenti che volete....

CAAD8 2005:

Scoperto l'arcano.
Derivato dal CAAD7, si differenzia ( a detta di un grosso venditore che ho visitato...) per la lavorazione dei tubi con una nuova macchina laddove prima erano lavorati a mano; il risultato e' l'asportazione di altro ... spessore inutile ... ed un alleggerimento ulteriore di un paio d'etti del telaio, impossibile anche pensarlo prima.
